Airbnb product innovation

Angela Ahrendts has joined Airbnb as a non-executive director, following successful roles at Burberry and latterly Apple.  Airbnb are extending their strategy to become a full-service travel provider, Bond (2019).

Square Mile to set speed limit to 15mph around the City

In a bid to boost safety for pedestrians and cyclists, the City of London plans to reduce the speed limit to 15mph around the City by 2022, subject to Government approval, Prynn (2019).

In mid-June, Beryl and Freebike are to participate in a six-month pilot for free electric bicycle hire in London. The goal is to encourage a move away from cars in the financial district, where more than 500,00 people daily commute into the City.  Uber have launched Jump, their electric bike trial in Islington, London, Warrington (2019).

Support for Small Businesses’ wellbeing

The Federation of Small Businesses is to partner with Heads Together, the charity supported by Princes William and Harry.  The move is to support the 5.7 million small companies in Britain, Evans (2019). 

In a survey by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England and Bauer Media UK, called Where’s your Head at?, only 30% of employees felt they could talk to colleagues about mental health.  To help workers find support on-demand, health-tech start-up Mynurva, offers online therapist support via secure video chat.

Co-Op Health app helps repeat prescriptions

The Co-Op is to help customers manage NHS repeat prescriptions with a digital pharmacy app.  The service will extend later in 2019 to help patients manage GP appointment bookings. ed0 Medi
